Mr. Lif

Mr. Lif ( born December 11, 1977 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, real name Jeffrey Haynes ) is an American rapper. He was one of the first artists who were taken to El -Ps label Definitive Jux under contract. He is also a member of the group The Perceptionists.

Life

Mr. Lif grew up in the Brighton neighborhood in Boston and began to rap the end of the 1990s. Published in 1998 his first single, electro, which brought him attention from the label Definitive Jux and Grand Royal. About the latter, a year later, his second single, Farmhand / Settle the Score, published. In 2000, he was then (at that time Def Jux ) taken at Definitive Jux under contract. In November of the same year he published his debut EP Enters the Colossus, on the Mr. Lif for the first time with his label boss El -P worked. He was also listening to a song on the self-titled debut album by the group Deltron 3030. His live album Live in the Middle East was released in 2001 on Ozone Records. 2002 first appeared his second EP Emergency Rations and later his official debut album I Phantom, both on Definitive Jux. In El -Ps album Fantastic Damage Mr. Lif is a guest part represented ( on the song Blood, together with C - Rayz Walz).

2005 made ​​Mr. Lif along with acrobatics and DJ Fakts One hip- hop group The Perceptionists which released their album Black Dialogue on Definitive Jux in the same year.

His second solo album Mo ' Mega was released in 2006 on Definitive Jux and was produced in large part by El -P. Featured guests are the rapper Aesop Rock, Murs and Blueprint.

In 2009 he released his third album I Heard it Today, after a breakup with Definitive Jux over Bloodbot Tactical. The album is, like its predecessors, politically oriented and often critical of society.
