MTC Namibia

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC ) is a Namibian mobile operator. The company was incorporated in 1995 and until March 2007 MTC had a monopoly.

Ownership structures

Today, MTC is one of 66% of Namibia Post and Telecommunications Holdings, a Namibian state-owned enterprises and 34% of Portugal Telecom. By 2004, 51% were state-owned and 49 % owned by the Swedish company Telia and Swedfund.

Products and customers

MTC has about 2.2 million active SIM cards ( 2013), reaching more than 100 % of the population of Namibia. The network coverage in the population is over 95 %.

MTC operates a GSM 900/1800 network and supports EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA offering various product solutions such as Home zone. In addition, MTC, with its product " Netman " the fastest Internet connections in Namibia.
