Mugur Isărescu

Mugur Isarescu (also Constantin Mugurel Isarescu; born August 1, 1949 in Drăgăşani ) is a Romanian economist, politician and Governor of the National Bank of Romania. During the period 22 December 1999 to 28 November 2000, he was the Prime Minister of Romania.

Life

The son of Constantin Isarescu, a professor of mathematics, and Satina Isărescustudierte after school until 1971 Economics at the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest. In 1989 he received the doctoral degree in his field. After the Romanian Revolution Isarescu worked from March to August 1990 as a secretary in the Romanian Embassy in the United States. In September 1990 he was Governor of the National Bank of Romania and nine years later, Romanian Prime Minister. This office he held from December 16 1999 to December 22, 2000 from. The coalition government had a month earlier lost the elections. Then Isarescu again took the office of governor of the National Bank of Romania. In addition, since 2005 he is professor at the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest and a member of the Romanian Academy, the Club of Rome and the Trilateral Commission. Isarescu is married and has two children.

Honors

Mugur Isarescu won several awards. Multiple honorary doctorates as well as the Star of Romania, he was awarded.
