The Mühlviertler expressway S 10 is a highway in Upper Austria and part of the European route 55 Of the approximately 38-kilometer trip between Unterweitersdorf and the border to the Czech Republic in Wullowitz, 2.5 km in operation and another 19.5 km are in construction. Once completed, the S 10 Mühlkreisautobahn the motorway ( A7 ) with the planned Czech expressway R3 will connect at Dolni Dvořiště and largely parallel to the existing Mühlviertler road (B 310 ) run.

Southern section

Section 1

On 30 July 2012, the first section (section 1) was opened at Unterweitersdorf. The 2.5 km -long section includes the transition to the A 7 (node ​​Unterweitersdorf ) and the junction Unterweitersdorf which connects the 10 S via a new roundabout with B 124, B 125 and B 310. The old junction Unterweitersdorf which, cover, the A 7 at its end in the B 310, was demolished during the construction work. As before, the A 7 opens now the S 10 at the end of the first section - shortly after the new connection point Unterweitersdorf - in the B 310 towards Freistadt.

Stock

The western tube of the currently 1.3 km long tunnel Neumarkt is already being used as part of the stretch of road B 310. After completion of the S 10 is this tunnel tube - extended to 1.9 mi - be a part of the new expressway. The eastern tube is present only as an escape tunnel in operation.

Preconstruction

As part of the preparations for construction (late Bronze Age ) were found in Unterweitersdorf by aerial burial sites from the urn field culture. In October 2010, excavations by archaeologists began. Construction

The construction of the 22- km section south ( Unterweitersdorf to Freistadt North ) began on 1 August 2009 at two locations simultaneously: on the one hand in Unterweitersdorf, on the other hand, in Freistadt. In 2010, with the construction of the roundabouts of the connection points and started various construction roads were built. On May 25, 2012, started the construction of nearly 300 m long tunnel Satzinger and settlement of the tunnel Manzenreith (more than 700 m). This put together with 13 bridges and 800 m long Unterflurtrasse Walchshof the heart of the bypass Freistadt dar.

Section 1 at Unterweitersdorf was opened on July 30, 2012. The nearly 6 km long section of Freistadt Freistadt South to North ( bypass Freistadt) will be released end of 2014 for traffic. With an opening to traffic of the total distance is expected for 2015.

The total cost of this section are estimated at around 689 million euros net. For 2015, the forecasted traffic is 10300-12400 vehicles / day. By 2025, 19000-40000 vehicles / day are predicted in the southern section.

Section northern

The construction of the section north of Freistadt North to Wullowitz ( 14.6 km ) will take place following the southern section as a function of the traffic-related requirements and the progress of construction on the Czech side.

Due to austerity measures in the Ministry of Planning for this section has been suspended until further notice.

The end of 2012 Asfinag has the plans for the section north resumed, and presented the end of 2013 a preliminary route selection. The S10 is to be extended in a western bypass until after Rain im Mühlkreis North. The further expansion direction Wullowitz is not yet fixed.
