Muscat of Alexandria
The white grape variety Muscat of Alexandria belongs to the large family of Muscat and is a relative of Muscat blanc à petits grains. It is used throughout the Mediterranean region for various purposes. There, it is often used as a table grape. However, it is also excellent for greenhouse farming in more northern countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands or the United Kingdom. In southern Spain, they will also gladly available in dried form.
Worldwide, around 47,000 hectares of vineyards are planted with Muscat of Alexandria. The grape variety is found in many sweet wines and dessert wines. In Chile, this variety comes from a fragrant brandy called pisco which is cool enjoyed along with a slice of lemon.
In Sicily, where numerous sweet Passitos such as Moscato di Pantelleria which are pressed out of it, the variety under the name zibibbo is known. The name is derived from the African Cape Zibibb, allegedly brought the Phoenicians this species from Egypt to southern Italy. In South Africa, she was a part of Constantia.

A study published in 2010 study puts the final close, which is the grape variety Muscat d' Alexandrie a natural hybrid of grape varieties Muscat blanc à petits grains and Axina a tres bias.
