Museum (TTC)

Museum is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Yonge- University - Spadina line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Queens Park and Charles Street. It is named after the nearby Royal Ontario Museum. The station, which has a central platform, is used daily by an average of 8,220 passengers (2009 /10). Nearby are located next to the Royal Ontario Museum and the Gardiner Museum, Royal Conservatory of Music and the northeastern part of the University of Toronto. It offers connecting flights to three bus lines.

The opening of the station on 28 February 1963 in conjunction with the section Union - St. George University of Subway. Its full market value reached this section, however, only three years later with the opening of the crossing in St. George Bloor- Danforth Line. The occupancy rate was lower than originally forecast in the initial years. For this reason, the operation was limited, especially on weekends; he is at all times throughout the entire route only since 1978.

In the first four decades of its existence, the design of the station was relatively simple, with unadorned square tiles. This changed with the renovation that was completed in April 2008. The columns were redesigned by Diamond and Schmitt Architects so that they are inspired by statues of various cultures. Shown are the ancient Egyptian deity Osiris, the Toltec warrior, Doric columns, the Forbidden City and totem poles of the First Nations. The statues point to the local museums.
