Muttenhorn

The Muttenhörner are a little more than two kilometers long rocky ridge in the Gotthard massif in the Lepontine Alps south of the Furka Pass. The highest point is the Grand Muttenhorn ( 3'099 m above sea level. M. ). The running of large Muttenhorn the southeast ridge forms the border of the Swiss cantons of Uri and Valais. Location

The United Muttenhorn as northwesterly terminus of the Muttenhörner is also the highest point of the rocky ridge. It sends four ridges, west to Tällistock ( 2,875 m above sea level. The ridge of Muttenhörner is weathered and supports a series of sharp-edged, gneiss and granite peaks, but that protrude only slightly above the mean ridge line. From United Muttenhorn this ridge runs first south, descends into a notch ( 2'935 m above sea level. M. ), then turns to the southeast in the further course and rises to chli Muttenhorn back to over 3000 meters. The Stotzig Muttenhorn marks the last major peaks of Muttenhörner in the southeast before the ridge to Muttenlücke ( 2'846 m above sea level. M. ) towards lowering. Increases

The United Muttenhorn is by far the most visited peaks of Muttenhörner. The easiest route from the Furka pass over the Tällilücke and the west ridge, it is berwertet on the SAC - scale hiking with T4, there are difficulties to cope with climbing the I. degree. From the pass road there goes initially to the south on the right, marked path west along the Blue Mountain in the valley of the Mutt Glacier.
