Logos Hope is a ship of the Christian relief and Missions Operation Mobilisation (OM). She is the fourth ship in the service of OM and is used as a floating conference and cultural center, as books market and transport of relief supplies.

History

The ship was built in 1973 as a car ferry Gustav Vasa on the Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg for the Swedish shipping company Lion Ferry AB for the Baltic Sea. It started operating charter was in service for the Svenska Rederi AB on the line Malmö -Travemünde. Despite several operators and owner change the ship kept the name and the line until 1982.

In April 1983, Gustav Vasa was sold to the newly established Faroese Smyril Line who renamed the ship in Norröna. As the only ship of the Norröna ran between Tórshavn, Hanstholm, Bergen, Lerwick and Seydisfjörður that was previously used on the line Malmö -Travemünde. and thus presented the only ferry to Iceland. This route was first offered only in the months of April to September, year-round from the end of 1998. Parallel to the ferry service and a freight line was set up and operated by the Norröna. In 2003 Smyril Line took the much larger ferry - new Norröna in operation. The old Norröna was renamed Norröna I, placed in reserve in the roads and put up for sale. Due to an incident in January 2004, the new Norröna collided in stormy weather with the harbor wall in Tórshavn and was damaged. For the two-month time to repair the Norröna I was again reactivated.

Use in OM

After several inspections GBA Ships eV bought the ship in March 2004 for 3.6 million euros, and renamed it to Logos Hope. With the new acquisition, the smaller logos should be replaced II, which was no longer meet the requirements of OM justice. As of June 2005, a fundamental restructuring of the Logos Hope in Brodotrogir shipyard in Trogir Croatia was by ferry boat to the conference. On 8 November 2007, the ship was laid for the interior to Kiel to come in May 2008 to Landskrona in Sweden in dry dock, where a new auxiliary machine was installed. The certificate was issued February 14, 2009 by a reviewer of Lloyd 's Register. On February 19, left the Logos Hope Køge and took the next day in Gothenburg, Sweden, on their service.

The Logos Hope went initially, as well as already Norröna, under the flag of the Faroe Islands. In February 2009, the Logos Hope was placed at OM in service. Even before the commissioning was on 29 September 2008 her OM predecessor ship, the Logos II, sold for scrapping in Turkey. The Logos Hope takes over the task area of ​​Logos II
