My brother is a dog is a German comedy film from the year 2004. The children's film directed by Peter Timm.
Action
Marietta wants so much a dog. Instead, however, it has only a " stupid " little brother named Tobias. Because it has an allergy to animal hair, no dog can live in the apartment. For her ninth birthday she gets, as so often, given a stuffed dog. But the " achtundneunzigste " stuffed dog can not satisfy their longing for a real dog. And then she even gets a strange stone from the African godchild of the family paid.
Marietta's parents, Mary and Martin, both put a socially and environmentally. Maria runs a trade whose proceeds benefit children in Africa, while Martin is working on a new ecological vehicle. Since Martin cares more about his work as his family to Marietta's parents argue occasionally.
To find each other, make the parents alone holiday. During this time the grandmother Gerda to mind the children. However, the grandmother does not like children. Alone with a bad-tempered grandmother and an annoying little brother, Marietta becomes acidic. They holed up in her room and reads the letter through again, the African godson sent her with the gift. The letter is in English, and so Marietta has some troubles to translate the letter.
The stone is said to have magical powers. Marietta rubbing against the stone, and wishes for a dog. And in fact, a dog is suddenly in the apartment. But where her brother is gone? Since the dog looks like chicken, and also like caramels like, Marietta quickly realizes that the dog is in fact her brother, because these things also liked her brother happy. Marietta is happy. She is going on her " stupid " little brother, and has a dog.
It succeeds Marietta to deceive her grandmother and her parents were traveling first, so everyone thinks Tobias would be at each other's. Too bad that everything comes out when their parents return. And so she wants to make the magic testweise reversed. But the reverse transformation does not work. So Marietta tried to contact the African godchild. To translate the email, it goes into an antique shop, which is run by an Englishman.
In the business of dog depends on some damage, so that Marietta must raise € 250. Fortunately, the dog was discovered by a producer. The dog appears in an advertisement, and so Marietta can get the money. The dog even comes on so well that he gets another contract for a series.
Of these Oma Gerda is thrilled. Because she wanted to be an actress, she finds it good to have at least one actor ends dog. Meanwhile finally reached the answer to the e-mail. The magic stone fulfilled only wishes that you really want from the bottom of my heart. Since Marietta had not wanted her brother back, it did not work. Meanwhile, however, she is worried about her brother, and so works well the reconversion.
At night Tobias wakes up. His dearest wish was to always be on TV. But as a boy he never succeeded in that. And so Tobias wishes with the help of Blue Water, to again be a dog. After re- transformation, the dog hides the stone.
As Marietta awake, she is desperate that Tobias is a dog again. And then is also missing the stone! To make matters worse even their parents come back. These have become reconciled during the holiday. So her happiness would be perfect, but where is Tobias?
Marietta Of course no one believes that Tobias has been transformed into a dog. Added to this is that the dog has remained at night in the studio. Her little brother all alone? That's not natural. So Marietta must save him. She manages the security guards in the studio to outwit, and save the dog.
After Marietta has declared the dog that their parents worry about Tobias, this would again be a boy. And so also succeeds reconversion. Marietta now does not need a "magic stone " anymore. And so she sends it back to the African godchild.
Criticism
Filmdienst 23/2004: The story told with witty dialogue and image punchlines story maintains the balance between tension and humor. Buoyed by a playful ensemble, the film tells without educational forefinger of parental and brotherly love.
