Myodocarpus pinnatus

The Myodocarpaceae are a plant family within the order of Doldenblütlerartigen ( Apiales ).

Description

There are woody plants: are shrubs or small trees. The leaves are alternate.

The inflorescences are mostly composed of umbels. The hermaphrodite flowers are fünfzählig. It's just a circle with five stamens present. Two carpels are fused to a ( syncarp ) ovary.

They are fleshy stone fruit or nut winged fruits (Samara ). They have a woody endocarp.

Dissemination

The species of the family have their areas in Queensland (Australia), New Caledonia and the Malay Archipelago.

System

The two genera were formerly in the family Araliaceae Juss. Tribus than Myodocarpeae R.Vig. classified. The Myodocarpaceae family consists of only two genera with about 19 species:

  • Delarbrea Vieill. ( Syn: Porospermum, Pseudosciadium ): There are small thornless trees. The change-constant leaves are composed. The leaves are serrated. Stipules absent. The inflorescences are composed of umbels. The hermaphrodite flowers are fünfzählig. The fleshy drupes are wingless. This genus is named after M. Delarbre and contains about six species which are native to the Lesser Sunda Islands and New Guinea to New Caledonia and Queensland: Delarbrea lauterbachii Harms
  • Delarbrea paradoxa
  • Myodocarpus angustialatus
  • Myodocarpus fraxinifolius Brong.
