Myrtoan Sea

The Mirtoo Sea ( Pelagos Greek Myrtoo Μυρτώο Πέλαγος ) is a marginal sea of the Aegean in the European Mediterranean. It is located between the Peloponnese and Western Cyclades. The northern flank of the Saronic Gulf, south of the Cretan Sea at which Argolic Gulf forms the western foothills of the sea.

The name of the sea is to be derived from the Greek charioteer Myrtilus, Pelops fell into this sea. Also on a girl named Myrto the name is returned.

On the northern edge of the Myrtoischen sea lie the islands of Spetses and Hydra, and the uninhabited island dokos that belong to the region of Attica. At the entrance to the Saronic Gulf island of Agios Georgios is located. Approximately in the middle of the sea, there are three small uninhabited islands: Falkonera, Karavi and Velopoula.
