Mystus nigriceps

Mystus are living in a freshwater Asian catfish genus of the sting from the order of catfish -like ( Siluriformes ). The distribution area of ​​the species-rich genus ranges from small Asia via Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, including the Great Sunda Islands, to China and in the basin of the Amur.

Features

Mystus species are 7-46 cm long and have an elongated, spindle-shaped, scaleless body sides slightly flattened. The head is short, the eyes are covered relatively large and not by skin. Of the four Bartel couples the front upper jaw barbels are remarkably long. The back line is more curved than the belly line. The sting of a sawed -based dorsal fin is short and starts at the highest point of the back. The underlying adipose fin is relatively long, the anal fin of moderate length. The pelvic fins are provided with a sting. The caudal fin is forked.
