The National Route 18 (short- N18 ) is a South African national road, which begins in Warrenton and runs until after Ramatlabama on the border between South Africa and Botswana. The N18 is still occasionally performed in South Africa as R49, the previous name for the largest part of this national road.

Route

The N18 leads from the center in Warrenton in the north, where the approach leading from the south N12 turns in a northeasterly direction. In the course of N18 accompanies a parallel trasssierte railway line, close following the direction of this national road once more and less and exceeds in the same locality as this the state border to Botswana.

In this section, only a few regional roads open a.

In Mahikeng the regional road R27 and R503 to the east branch off, while another regional road turns westward, following the border between South Africa and Botswana, and thereby creates a connection to the nearby border crossing at Makgobistad and other more distant regional border crossings.

From Mahikeng out in a northerly direction the N18 passes through the place Mmabatho and reached in Ramatlabama the border crossing to Botswana. From there, the Botswana highway A1 continues to Lobatse and Gaborone.

Track Removal

In all sections the road is single track with expanded asphalt surface to several kilometers to Warrenton with attached edge strips, otherwise with gravelled border areas. So far, there are no toll roads on the N18.
