Nadelhorn

The needle Horn is located in the Valais Alps, at an altitude of 4'327 m above sea level. M.. It belongs to Mischabelgruppe, the Monte Rosa group, the second highest mountain range in Switzerland.

The three ridges of Nadelhorn end in a small and pointy summit, which offers the same place for only a few mountaineers. The Nadelhorn is the height of the mixing Abel, the name of the "needle" most deserving (view from north ). However, the name probably comes from an oval hole, " pinhole ", which is clearly visible during the ascent of Dom from Festijoch from. It is located approximately 10 meters north-west of the highest point.

The Nadelhorn is a possible exit point from the Nadelgrat; but the whole Nadelgrat turns on the Nadelhorn south to Lenzspitze.

The first ascent of Nadelhorn took place on September 16, 1858 by Franz Andenmatten Baptiste Epiney, Aloys Supersaxo, Joseph Zimmermann on the still serving as the Northeast Normal. The aim was to put up a trigonometric signal.

On the northern flank of the fissured hanging Nadelhorn the Ried glacier takes its starting point; east lies the Hohbalmgletscher.
