Nagoya TV Tower

The TV Tower Nagoya (Japanese名古屋 テレビ塔, Nagoya Terebitō ) is a 180 meter high transmission tower with a viewing platform in the center of Nagoya, Japan. He represents the first to be built in Japan television tower and an important landmark of the city of Nagoya

Method of construction

The television tower was built in steel truss design. The construction phase lasted 8 1/2 months from 29 September 1953 to 19 June 1954. Was designed by Prof. Tachu Naitō of Waseda University, who later also designed the Sapporo TV Tower, and Tokyo Tower. The construction was carried out by a shipbuilding company from Kobe, which used about 1,000 tons of steel.

At the foot are located at a height of 25 or 30 meters, a restaurant, a souvenir shop and a gallery. A closed platform ( Sky Deck ) at a height of 90 meters allows a 360 ° panoramic view of the city. The Sky Deck is surmounted at a height of 100 meters of an open-air balcony (Sky Balcony ). Both platforms with a capacity of 200 people are open to the public and accessible by elevators. Use

The tower was also used as a transmission tower. Four companies took advantage of the tower to broadcast the following five programs:

Since the commissioning of the television tower Seto the broadcasting of the TV Tower Nagoya has become obsolete.
