Nakhchyvan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic

The Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (or the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Azerbaijani Нахчыван Мухтар Совет Сосјалист Республикасы, Russian Нахичеванская Автономная Советская Социалистическая Республика, modern Azerbaijani Naxçıvan Muxtar Sovet Sosialist Respublikası ) was an autonomous socialist republic of the Soviet Union.

It was located within the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic.

History

As a predecessor of Nakhichevan Autonomous Region was separated on 28 April 1920. The Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was established on 9 February 1924, lasted until 1991. The area was 5,500 km ², its population 257,000. The area has been the independence of Azerbaijan, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic within the country, however, an exclave.

In 2008, the Azerbaijan National Bank introduced a pair of gold and silver coins as a commemorative for the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
