Nakovo

Nakovo ( Serbian Cyrillic Наково, German ( outdated ): Nakodorf, Sell Esch, Hungarian Nákófalva ) is a village in the region belonging to Serbia Vojvodina.

Location

Nakovo lies directly on the border with Romania, about 5 km north-east of Kikinda. In the village there is the border crossing Lunga Nakovo. From Nakovo consists of a spur track to Kikinda. The road is located on the Nakovo, Kikinda connects with the Romanian Lovrin.

History

Historically, one of the community to Banat. The former Danube Swabian population of Nakovo was interned after Germany's defeat in 1944 in labor camps or deported to Russia. Today, the 1,921 inhabitants ( 2011) counted the population to 99.5 % Serbs and 0.5 % from Hungary.

The first settlement by the Magyars was documented in a settlement agreement with the Count Christoph von Nako 1784. From this period dates the place name Sell Esch, who was favored to 1944 in the German language. In 1790, the German settlement began, first by families from the surrounding villages. Already in 1793 Nakovo had 1054 inhabitants.

Infrastructure

Nakovo has a post office, the newly built Serbian Orthodox Church St. Tsar Lazar, also called Nakovska Lazarica, the primary school " Petar Kočić ", the Cultural Association " Izvor Nakovo ", a park and the football club FK " Polet " Nakovo.
