Nancy Langat

Nancy Jebet Langat ( born August 22, 1981 in Eldoret ) is a Kenyan middle distance runner and Olympic gold medalist.

At Junior World Championships she won the 1998 silver and 2000 gold in the 800 -meter run. As an adult, she moved to the 1500 -meter distance. In 2004 she was Champion Africa and arrived in Athens at the Olympic Games semi-finals. The following year she was at the World Cross Country Championships Watch out for the short haul, but resigned at the World Championships in Helsinki during preprocessing.

After two years break from competition in 2008, she was third in the Kenyan elimination fights for the Olympic Games in Beijing. There she won a surprise in her personal best time of 4:00,23 min before the two Ukrainierinnen Iryna Lischtschynska and Natalija Tobias. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009 they could not qualify for the finals against it.

The 2010 season was again very successful for Langat. In the Africa Championships in Nairobi, she won the title in the 1500 meter race at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, she won over 800 and 1500 meters. They also secured in the IAAF Diamond League overall victory in the 1500 meter race.

Nancy Langat Jebet belongs to the Kenyan armed forces and lives in Nairobi. She is married to the marathon runner Kenneth Cheruiyot.
