National Badminton Federation of Russia

The National Badminton Federation of Russia (Russian Национальная Федерация Бадминтона России ) is the supreme national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in Russia. The association was founded in 1992 as a successor to the Badminton Association of CIS, which followed on the existence of the Badminton Association of the USSR.

History

Badminton was played in Russia since the 1950s. The Badminton Association of the USSR was soon a member of the Badminton World Federation, then known as International Badminton Federation. The Soviet Union in 1974 also a member of the continental governing body Badminton Europe, the then still trading under the name of European Badminton Union. With the end of the Soviet Union in 1990 and the end of the Soviet Union was sealed, and the organization was in 1991 in the Association of CIS on, which existed until 1992 and was replaced by the National Badminton Federation of Russia. In 2005, the hitherto existing in parallel Russian Badminton Federation (RBF ) was dissolved, which had taken over the duties in the field of badminton already in the former RSFSR.
