National Folk Museum of Korea

The National Folk Museum of Korea is a museum in South Korea. It is on the grounds of the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Jongno -gu, Seoul, home and uses replicas of historical objects that show the history of the Korean people.

Director is Jingi Cheon.

History

The museum was founded in 1924 by Yanagi Soetsu. This name was later changed by the U.S. government on November 8, 1945. The museum was originally located on Mount Namsan, and later moved to Gyeongbokgung in 1975. The present building was built in 1972 and housed the National Museum of Korea until 1986. Was remodeled and reopened as the National Folk Museum in 1993. The building's design is based on various historical buildings around South Korea.

The museum has three exhibition halls, and it also houses a children's museum and an outdoor exhibition.
