Necmi Gençalp
Necmi Gencalp ( born January 1, 1960 in Yozgat ) is a former Turkish wrestler.
Career
Necmi Gencalp comes from Yozgat and began in 1975 with the rings. After initial successes at the national level, he joined the sports club " Seker " Ankara. As early as 1979 he started at the Balkan Games in Yambol / Bulgaria and arrived there on a good 2nd place in free style at welterweight. In the junior level to Necmi also tried in the Graeco-Roman. Style and it came at the Junior European Championships 1980 in Bursa to 4th place in the welterweight division:
1980 and 1981 Necmi was used by the Turkish Wrestling Federation in each case an international championship, but could not say in front of the field itself. From 1983 to 1986 Necmi often had to struggle with injuries and was therefore able to achieve any particular success. From 1987 to 1990 then came but the best years for Necmi Gencalp, 1988 at middleweight culminated in Seoul in winning the Olympic silver medal. Necmi succumbed fight for victory against the South Korean audience driven by the fanatical native Ringer Han Hyung -woo just on points. The fact that this success was no fluke, proved Necmi 1989, when he was also Vice- European Champion. In the final, he wrestled it against the Czechs experienced Jozef Lohyna. Both wrestlers were not able to score until the end of the fight. The judges disqualified then both wrestlers because of passivity and awarded no gold medal.
1991 ended Necmi Gencalp its international wrestler 's career. He is now coach in Yozgat.
