Neighborhood Story

Gokinjo Monogatari (Japaneseご 近所 物語) is a manga series created by Ai Yazawa, which appeared from 1995 to 1997 in Japan. Following the submission of the manga an anime television series and a film was produced. With the series Paradise Kiss the action is partly continued.

Action

Mikako Koda, a student in the first school year of high school, attended a Design Course for clothes at the Yazawa Art Academy. Her dream is to become a designer and to have your own brand business. The story is about their love for their neighbors, Tsutomu Yamaguchi, and of the relations with the friends surrounding them.

People

  • Mikako Koda: She is the main character and the high school student. She has a great talent for fashion design. It is Tsutomus friend from childhood days. You win the grand prize of the fashion show at the cultural festival during school hours, and studied abroad. It is at the end of the story designer.
  • Tsutomu Yamaguchi: He is the Mikakos friend from childhood days. His face resembles that of a monkey. His hobby is making strange objects. He has through the influence of Father Mikakos interest in cameras and will end up a professional photographer.

Publication

The manga was published from February 1995 to October 1997 in the manga magazine Ribon the publisher Shueisha in Japan. The individual chapters were published in seven anthologies.

From April 2005, to March 2006, Egmont Manga and Anime a German translation of all volumes. Akata published a French version and an Italian Planet Manga. Likewise, the manga was published in Taiwan.

Anime adaptations

1995 produced the studio Toei Animation, a anime television series based on the manga. Directed by Atsutoshi Umezawa and the artistic director Shinzo Yuki had stopped. For the character design Yashihiko Makoshi and Yoshihiko Umakoshi were responsible.

The series aired from September 10 1995 to September 1, 1996 in TV Asahi Sunday morning program. In 1996, the series of half-hour film Gokinjo Monogatari out. An Italian version that aired from August 1998 by Italia 1.

Music

The music of the series composed by Masahiro Kawasaki. Was used for the opening credits the song He.Ro.IN, sung by Rumi Shishido. Both Broadcast were underlaid with the titles Do not You Know? and NG! , also sung by Rumi Shishido.
