Neil Travis

Herbert Neil Travis ( born October 12, 1936 in Los Angeles, California, † March 28, 2012 in Arroyo Grande, California ) was an American editor.

Life

After Neil Travis had made his bachelor's degree in art and theater arts at UCLA, he tried his hand in the movie business and helped by his first assistant editor in 1965 in Billie in films such as The Rogue and Hell in the Pacific Thomas Stanford at the intersection before it in 1970 with The Travelling executioner was allowed to autonomously direct a film section for the first time. Already in 1977, pointed to his successful career when he was honored for Roots with two Emmy nominations, of which he subsequently also won one. His most frequently nominated and award-winning interface, however, was Dances with Wolves, he not only received a BAFTA Award nomination, but was in 1991 awarded the Oscar for best film editing.

Neil Travis was a member of the American Cinema Editors. and received the 2010 ACE Career Achievement Award for his life's work.

On March 28, 2012 Herbert Neil Travis died from natural causes, and was survived by both his wife and their son and daughter.
