Neit

Neit [N ʴ e ː d ʴ ] (also Nét, Ned or Neith ) is in the Irish Glossary Sana Cormaic [' Sana ' xormik '], called ( " Cormac whisper " ) of the bishop and the king of Munster, Cormac mac Cuillenáin as an Irish war god of Celtic mythology.

In Lebor Gabala Eirenn is Neit son of Induí and King of Formoren. His wife is Nemain, in other versions also Badb, his children are Easar, Buareinech and Delbaeth. He fights in the second battle of Mag Tuired on the part of Formoren with.

The name may possibly be connected with the Anglo-Saxon NID ( " envy ") with the proto- Indo-European root * nei -t ( "fight" ). Also a connection with the Celtic deity Neto would therefore be possible.

NeitS father of the Lebor Gabala Induí Eirenn is named as father Midir in the first version. Whether this is in each case by the same person, is unclear.
