Nelson Rangell

Nelson Rangell ( born March 26, 1960 in Castle Rock ( Colorado)) is an American saxophonist and flautist of smooth jazz.

Rangell, who grew up in Denver and as a child with his siblings played music (including with Bobby Rangell ), received from the age of fifteen flute lessons at the Interlochen Arts Academy. As early as 1979 he was appointed by Downbeat as "Best High School Soloist " award to obtain later while studying the New England Conservatory with Robert Stallman the same award for the students. In 1984 he moved to New York City where he worked as a studio musician, but also with Gil Evans, Chuck Loeb, Jaco Pastorius, Herb Ellis, David Sanborn and Russ Freeman and his " Rippingtons " played. In 1987 he presented his debut album " To Begin Again", which until 2009 was followed by fourteen more albums. He was also involved in recordings of the GRP All Stars, Chuck Loeb, Tom Browne, Russ Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip, Patti Austin or John Tesh. He also plays the piccolo.
