Nemce
Nemce (1948-1970 Slovak " Zvolenské Nemce "; Nemtze German, Hungarian Zólyomnémeti - to 1888 Nemce ) is a town in central Slovakia, with 1164 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Banská Bystrica, which for Banskobystrický Region belongs.
Geography
The place is situated on the river Nemčiansky creek, five kilometers northeast of Banska Bystrica below the mountains Starohorské Hills.
History
Nemce was founded in the 13th century by Banskobystricky miners, the first written record (as Nemetfalva ), however, is only available from 1473. In the Middle Ages it was owned by various Banská Bystrica town citizens, then it belonged to Thurzos Fugger company and finally from 1501 to 1848 the city of Banska Bystrica. For this reason, the history of the town is closely associated with the city.
1970-1990 was the site of the district of Banská Bystrica.
