Neon Golden is the sixth studio album from Weilheim of indie band The Notwist. It was released on 14 January 2002 on the label City Slang.

Formation

Almost four years after her album " Shrink" published in January 2002, The Notwist the successor. Stronger than on the previous albums came to " Neon Golden " - especially by Martin Gretsch man stepped up - electronic elements into play that made its own sound universe along with the guitar - oriented sound of the band and symphonic accompaniment.

The album was largely taken up by the criticism of high praise. In the annual charts of the renowned German music magazines to " Neon Golden " was in 2002 consistently on top rankings. Even with the record buyers, met with acceptance. So it occupied in the German Media Control sales charts 10th place

In the same year a 90-minute documentary by Jörg Adolph named On / Off The Record was broadcast on 3sat. This portrayed the entire creation process of the album, the recording process for the publication of negotiations and press events up to the first performance. The film was released in the winter of 2006 at City Slang on DVD.

" Neon Golden " was sold at concerts as well as a double 3 " CD in digipak.
