Neusorg–Fichtelberg railway

The railway line Neusorg - Fichtelbergbahn joined the community Fichtelbergbahn in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth with the station Neusorg in the Upper Palatinate Tirschenreuth on the main railway Nuremberg - Cheb. The standard gauge, single-track branch line was 14.7 km long and was opened on December 20, 1890 by the Bavarian State Railways.

The route took in a northwesterly direction in the valley of Fichtelnaab upward into the Fichtelgebirge. About Ebnath and fire it reached its endpoint, the climatic health resort Fichtelbergbahn 720 meters above sea level, in the centuries and mining was carried out. It was the highest endpoint of all branch lines in the Fichtelgebirge.

On weekdays drove in the first decades of mostly three pairs of trains, in 1939 and 1957, even four eight. Sunday increased the number of trains from three to six over the years. As the German Federal Railways withdrew more and more from the area, was limited in 1975 the offer on a train that drove early Monday to Friday from Fichtelbergbahn after Kirchenlaibach and in the evening returned from Schirnding ago.
