New Tattoo is the title of which appeared in 2000 eighth studio album by the American band Mötley Crüe. It is the only album the band in its absorption founding member Tommy Lee was not involved. He was replaced after his 1998 exit explained by the drummer Randy Castillo.

Background

Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil was replaced in 1992 by John Corabi, with which the band recorded the album Mötley Crüe. After the album failed to meet the commercial expectations of the record company Elektra Records, they exerted pressure on the band to bring back Neil in the band and to dismiss Corabi. With Neil already commenced with Corabi recordings and songwriting for Generation Swine continued. Especially Tommy Lee did not agree with this development, as he perceived a musical reverse orientation, took the group in 1998 but still the two new titles for the best-of album Greatest Hits ( Bitter Pill and Enslaved ) on. He also played on the subsequent tour with the band, but then announced his retirement from the band. After discharge from the four-month imprisonment, which he had in 1998, serving for an attack on his wife, Pamela Anderson, he formed Methods of Mayhem.

His former band decided to continue their careers without Lee, and undertook Randy Castillo, the longtime drummer for Ozzy Osbourne, for the recording of their next album. Just before the start of the New Tattoo tour in the U.S. fell ill Castillo of cancer; he was replaced by the drummer of the band Hole, Samantha Maloney. Castillo died on 26 March 2002.
