Next Life

Reprobates: Island of the Damned is an adventure by Future Games. It plays on an unknown island on which the player wakes up suddenly and whose secret he must explore. Reprobates was published on 14 September 2007 for Windows. In the English version of the game is called Next Life.

Action

The 23- year-old Czech Adam Raichl rammed his car a tanker, which explodes. To his surprise, he wakes up then in a cramped living container on an uncharted island to work together with a dozen other people who apparently death are all narrowly escaped inexplicably, namely at different times in the past ( from Adam's perspective) 50 years. On the (very small ) island is a mysterious bell tower. If this rings three times, all the islanders fall abruptly into a deep sleep and experiencing terrible nightmares, some of which affect the waking life. Sometimes are and remain single islanders after these stages of sleep disappeared. Elucidate the mystery of the bell tower is the goal of the game.

Gameplay

Reprobates is a so-called 2.5D point-and- click adventure. Characters that were created as a three-dimensional character models that move in front of hand-drawn 2D scenes. Using the mouse, the player gives his character Adam Raichl action commands, they moved from place to place, examined the scene, objects found combined and converses with other characters. An unusual point- and-click adventure games feature is a persistence display that empties by race, lifting and climbing and can be filled by water and food again.

Reception

In reviews of the unused setting, the nightmare sequences, and generally the graphics were praised. They criticized the variety poor island sequences, the awkward narration, the pale design of the characters as well as numerous technical errors. The setting was often compared to the TV series Lost. The Metacritic score is 56
