NGC 1399

NGC 1399 is the name of a galaxy in the constellation Fornax. NGC 1399 has a brightness of 9.4 mag and an angular extent of 6.9 '× 6.5 '.

NGC 1399 is one of the biggest and brightest members of the Fornax cluster of galaxies with a distance of 60 million light- years, the us next cD galaxy.

The galaxy was discovered on 22 October 1835 by the British astronomer John Herschel.
