NGC 1404

NGC 1404 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Fornax on the border of the constellation Eridanus. NGC 1404 has a brightness of 10.0 mag and an angular extent of 4.1 '× 3.4 '. The galaxy is a member of the Fornax cluster of galaxies. It was discovered on 28 November 1837 by the British astronomer John Herschel.
