NGC 1409

NGC 1409 is the name of a spiral galaxy in the constellation Taurus, which is removed from the earth 300 million light years. It is in interaction with the galaxy NGC 1410, from which it is about 23,000 light years away. It is believed that the two galaxies collided about 100 million years and that they will merge in about 200 million years ago.

The galaxy NGC 1409 was discovered on January 6, 1785 by the German - British astronomer William Herschel.
