NGC 346

NGC 346 is the designation for an open cluster in an emission nebula in the Small Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Tucana. NGC 346 has a diameter of 5.2 " and an apparent magnitude of 10.3 mag.

Latest pictures from the Hubble telescope can be seen in the mist 70,000 stars, of which the oldest 4.5 billion years and the youngest about 5 million years old.

NGC 346 was discovered on August 1, 1826 by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop.
