NGC 6251

NGC 6251 is the name of an elliptical galaxy, which is about 300 million light -years away from Earth. NGC 6251 is known as a radio galaxy in which there is a supermassive black hole with a mass of about 6 × 108 solar masses. This is in the ultraviolet absorption of Hubble visible (white and blue area in the center ).

NGC 6251 was discovered on January 1, 1802 by the German - British astronomer William Herschel.
