NGC 6744

NGC 6744 is the name of a galaxy in the constellation peacock. NGC 6744 has a brightness of 8.3 mag and an angular size of 13.2 × 8.3 arcmin. Making it one of the apparently brightest and largest galaxies in our night sky. NGC 6744 is about 25 million light-years from Earth and has a diameter of nearly 150,000 light-years. It has an irregular companion galaxy NGC 6744A with the name. James Dunlop discovered NGC 6744 on 30 June in 1826.
