NGC 7049

NGC 7049 is the name of a galaxy in the constellation Indus. The galaxy was discovered on August 4, 1826 by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop; this discovery was reported in the New General Catalogue later.

NGC 7049 has an apparent visual magnitude of 10.6 mag and an angular extent of 4.4 '× 2.9 '. However, it is due to its declination 1516657-48 ° 33 ' 43 " too far south to be observed from Central Europe. A recording by the Hubble Space Telescope shows its appearance in visible light having an unusual dust ring.
