NGC 772

NGC 772 is the designation of a spiral galaxy of type Sb in the constellation Aries. NGC 772 has an angular extent of 7.4 '× 4.9 ' and an apparent magnitude of 10.3 mag. The elliptical galaxy NGC 770 is a satellite galaxy of NGC 772; it interacts with the latter and is responsible for the deformation of its spiral arms. The two galaxies are listed together as Arp 78 Arp catalog. In 2003 two supernovae could be observed in this galaxy: SN and SN 2003hl 2003iq ( both of type II).
