Niagara Peninsula

The Niagara Peninsula ( engl. Niagara Peninsula ) is a region in the south of the Canadian province of Ontario. It is bounded by Lake Ontario to the north, the Niagara River in the east, Lake Erie in the south and the city of Hamilton in the west. The largest part of the peninsula is part of the Regional Municipality of Niagara. Cities in the region include St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland and Niagara -on-the -Lake.

Geographically, the area is characterized on the one hand from Niagara Falls, on the other hand, from the hilly terrain of the Niagara Escarpment ( Niagara Escarpment ), which was founded in 1990 by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. The Niagara Peninsula also forms the south-eastern end of the Golden Horseshoe, the densely populated coastal strip along the Lake Ontario.
