Niall Canavan

Niall David Stephen Canavan ( born April 11, 1991, Leeds ) is an English footballer who currently plays at third division Scunthorpe United.

The Defender is Player of Scunthorpe United since his youth. He signed his first professional contract in April 2009. His first league game he played 22 August 2009 in the 0-4 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday, when he came off the bench in 28 minutes for Rob Jones. Just three days later, he scored in the League Cup match against Swansea City, which was won 2-1 with his first goal. Swansea City finished the game with only eight players after Ángel Rangel, Garry Monk and Gorka Pintado had been dismissed.

In his seventh deployment in the Football League Championship 2 May 2010 Canavan scored his first goal in league play. Here he met in the home game against Nottingham Forest to 1:2, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. In May 2010, he extended his contract with the Irons for another three years.
