Nicéphore Soglo

Nicéphore Dieudonné Soglo ( born November 29, 1934 in Lomé ) was 1991-1996 President of Benin.

Life

Soglo studied law and economics at the University of Paris. He returned to Benin, where he took over until the coup in 1972, Mathieu Kérékous tasks in the area of ​​Finance and Economics. After the coup Soglo worked outside of Benin, among others, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

In the late 1980s, the weakened Kérékou government convened a national conference on the introduction of a multiparty democracy, became the interim prime minister determined at the Soglo 1990. His wife Rosine in 1992 founded the party Parti du Bénin Renaissance ( PRB ), whose chairman was Soglo 1994.
