Nicholas Krushenick

Nicholas Krushenick ( born May 31, 1929 in Bronx, New York City, USA, † February 5, 1999 in New York ) was an American painter and an important forerunner of Pop Art.

Life and work

Nicholas Krushenick studied at the Art Students League of New York from 1948 to 1950 and at the Hans Hofmann School Of kind of 1950 until 1951. Opened He, along with his brother John Krushenick an artist cooperative in the Brata Gallery in the late 1950s.

Krushenick began from 1957 onwards his work publicly display in New York. From 1962 his work has been shown in the class of upscale galleries and museums. His work is part of the large permanent collections in New York and the United States.

In 1963 he participated in the annual exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and also in 1963 at the Museum of Modern Art, both in New York, in part. In 1968 he was represented by six works at the documenta 4 in Kassel.

In 1969 Krushenick gave up his soft brush of the abstract expressionists and used a technique with bolder colors and lines while maintaining abstract forms. This style marks him as one of the original practice of Pop Art.

In his later years taught Krushenick at the University of Maryland, College Park 1977 until 1991.
