Nichoria

Nichoria is situated in Messinia find site of a Bronze Age and early Iron Age settlement in the village not far from Karpofora Petalidi.

It is a small settlement with small, one-story rectangular buildings. Oval or apsidenförmige buildings should have been the religious buildings of that time. In a slightly larger, but very simple building lived the lead family. In him also apparently gatherings and celebrations were held. The material legacy does not demonstrate greater prosperity. Artifacts, suggesting intense long-distance trade, are missing. It was apparently more livestock and hunting operated as in Mycenaean times, in which the focus was on the unique farming. Iron was first used to any significant extent as a material, but was still very precious.

Nichoria was probably subordinate to the more important Pylos in Mycenaean times.
