Nick Folk

Nicholas Alexander Folk ( born November 5, 1984 in Los Angeles, California) is an American professional American football player at the position of the kicker. He plays for the New York Jets in the National Football League ( NFL).

Playing career

College career

Folk played in high school American football and soccer. He played as a kicker and punter this. After finishing school he studied at the University of Arizona and played for the Arizona Wildcats Football.

Professional career

In the 2007 NFL Draft Folk was drawn by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round to 178 place. Since the shortening of the draft to seven rounds, the Cowboys no kicker or punter had more pulled in the draft.

Already in his first game year he scored 131 points with the highest score that has ever achieved a kicker the Cowboys in one season. In the same year he moved into the Pro Bowl and was voted All Pro. He was the first rookie kicker who has ever played in the Pro Bowl. As Folk had sustained a hip injury before the 2009 season, his time of the season was questionable. The Cowboys they drafted a substitute of Folk, David Buehler, but did not play. Folk recovered in time for the season. Folk has been involved in the past few years several times in charitable actions of his team. He works closely with an organization that is committed to the fight against neurofibromatosis.

On 21 December 2009 Nick Folk was released by the Dallas Cowboys after he awarded in six consecutive games at least a field goal. On 23 February 2010, he signed a contract with the New York Jets.
