Nick Petrecki

Nicholas Griffin Petr Niemiecki ( born July 11, 1989 in Schenectady, New York ) is an American professional ice hockey player. He stands at the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League under contract and plays primarily for the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Petr Niemiecki was initially selected in the OHL Priority Selection draft in the first round to eighth position of the Plymouth Whalers. However, he chose his career at the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League to begin where he went to the 2005/06 season in his first season. After a difficult rookie year with only three points scorer, he made the following season 24 points to be recorded, of which eleven goals. In two seasons, the Americans with the Lancers managed to qualify for the playoffs. In the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 of the defenders of the San Jose Sharks was selected in the first round to 28th position. Petr Niemiecki was considered the best physically trained players at his position the entire cohort.

In autumn 2007, the defender moved to the Boston College where he began his studies and was also active with their hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. With this he reached the so-called "Frozen Four " tournament for the title, the college secured by a 4-1 victory over the University of Notre Dame equal in his rookie year. Previously he had won with the team the championship of the Hockey East Division and winning the prestigious Beanpot Tournament, where he scored in the final against Harvard University the winning goal in overtime. In the following season the Americans continued to operate on the College and delivered from superior performance. However, the team could not defend the title won in the previous year, making the season the defender was already completed in March of 2009. At the end of the month it finally brought the San Jose Sharks - almost two years after he was drafted - to signing his first professional contract, effective from the beginning of the season 2009/10.
