Nicolaus Vetter

Nicolaus Vetter ( * 1666 probably in Herschdorf, † June 13, 1734 in Rudolstadt ) was a German organist and composer of the Baroque.

From the Rudolstädter church book, October 2 can be calculated as his birthday. It says that cousin at the age of 67 years, eight months and eleven days died.

Training

In 1681 students is cousin of the organist and composer Georg Caspar Wecker in Nuremberg, from August 27, 1683 he is until after the October 29, 1688 students at the high school and Rudolstadt 1688-1690 Johann Pachelbel students in Erfurt. The assumption that the same cousin in Erfurt, the University had visited, can not be proved from the register book of the University of Erfurt.

Career

When Johann Pachelbel changed in 1690 to Stuttgart in the service of the Duchess Magdalena Sibylla, cousin becomes his successor as organist of the church preacher in Erfurt. Already in 1690 he was appointed court organist in Rudolstadt, his successor in Erfurt is Johann Heinrich Buttstedt.
