Nihat Zeybekci

Nihat Zeybekçi (* 1961 in Tavas, Denizli ) is a Turkish politician, entrepreneur, and since December 25, 2013 Minister of Economic Affairs. He is a member of the AKP.

Biography

Nihat Zeybekçi was born in 1961 in the small town Pınarlar that belongs to Tavas. He studied at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Marmara University in Istanbul. He later studied political science at Istanbul University and successfully completed his studies. According to two studies in Istanbul, he traveled to London and studied Economics at South London College.

After studying in London Zeybekçi returned back to Turkey to Istanbul, where he was working for several years in a public agency. After that he went to Denizli and lived there ever since. Zeybekçi was managing director of a textile company in Denizli. In 1994 he founded the textile firm Turkuaz Tekstil San ve Tic. A.Ş.. Then were opened in other cities of Turkey, six more branches of his company.

In the local elections on March 28, 2004 Zeybekçi was set up by the ACP as a candidate and elected with 51.51 percent for Mayor of Denizli. In the local elections on 29 March 2009, he was re-elected with 40 percent. He held until March 16, 2011 This post.

In the Cabinet reshuffle on December 25, 2013, he took over from Mehmet Zafer Çağlayan the post of economy minister.

In addition to Turkish Zeybekçi fluent in German and English. He is married and father of four children.
