Nikos Tselios

Nikos Tselios (Greek Νίκος Τσέλιος, born January 20, 1979 in Oak Park, Illinois ) is a former American- Greek hockey player who has played in its active period from 1996 to 2008, including for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. His cousin Chris Chelios was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Nikos Tselios began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League, where he was active for the Belleville Bulls and Plymouth Whalers from 1996 to 1999. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 in the first round than a total of 22 players from the Carolina Hurricanes. For the Hurricanes the defender was in the 2001/ 02 season, his debut in the National Hockey League, for which he received six penalty minutes in two games. However, the rest of the time in the franchise Carolinas he spent at their farm team, the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Lowell Lock Monsters in the American Hockey League.

On 21 July 2003 Tselios awarded a contract as a free agent with the Phoenix Coyotes, played in the next two years, but only for their AHL farm team Springfield Falcons and Utah Grizzlies. For the 2005/06 season the links Sagittarius first went to Europe, where he worked for KalPa Kuopio first played in the Finnish SM- liiga before he finished the season at Färjestad BK in the Swedish Elitserien, with whom he won the national championship at the end of the season. After four games for the Chicago Hounds of the United Hockey League, the American ran with Greek roots to 2008 in Division 1, the third Swedish league, for Örebro HK. He then finished his career at the age of 29 years.

Internationally

For the U.S. Tselios took part in the U20 Junior World Cup in 1998, where he finished fifth with his team.
