Noah Beery Jr.

Noah Lindsey Beery ( born August 10, 1913 in New York City, New York, † November 1, 1994 in Tehachapi, California ) was an American film and television actor. He starred in over 100 film and television productions and was over 65 years as an actor.

Life

At the age of seven, he played a small role in the silent film The Mark of Zorro alongside his father Noah Beery. Besides his father, he was often seen with his uncle Wallace Beery in his youth on the canvas. He became one often booked supporting actor in Western films in the 1930s and 1940s.

With increasing interest in television production Noah was a sought-after performer series, which was shown for example in the popular series Corky and the Circus ( Circus Boy ) and Gunsmoke ( Gunsmoke ). But his signature role is the figure of Joseph "Rocky" Rockford, father of Rockford in the series The Rockford Files - Just call, for which he received two Emmy nominations.

His poor health led in 1985 to the fact that he had to give up his job as an actor. He had one of his last appearances on the series Murder, She Wrote ( episode Dark past). Noah Beery Jr. died at the age of 81 years at the consequences of thrombosis in the brain. He left behind three children from his first marriage to actress Maxine Jones and his second wife Lisa.
