Nobling

The Nobling is a white grape variety which is grown almost exclusively in Markgraeflerland in Baden. He is a new breed of Johannes Zimmermann, created by crossing the varieties Chasselas and Sylvaner in 1940 in the state Viticulture Institute in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1971, the entry in the list of varieties. The details of the breeder to the crossing parents could be confirmed in the meantime by DNA analysis.

The species has not become particularly well-known despite their intrinsically high quality today. Therefore, it was first used as a basis for high-quality sparkling wine, as they can reach high must weights at high acid ( → acid (wine) ) at the same time. The use of sparkling wine is done but by the sharp decline in acreage now as good as no longer. Nobling has a delicate, mirabell - up peach -like aroma.

The Nobling needs the warm, humid air from the Baden region and has a relatively low winter frost resistance. Characteristic of the Vine her is very irregular bud break in the spring as well as the tendency for a strong tendrils education. So unlike Burgundersorten the vines become woody in late year. Thus, the manual workload of winter pruning is about three times longer than Burgundies and about twice as long as for the variety Chasselas in wire systems.

In addition to manual labor relatively high the vine needed to achieve high must weights also good to very good locations, unlike, say, the variety Müller -Thurgau, which is significantly less demanding on the situation. This is the sort Nobling in competition with the Burgundy varieties, which can be achieved with less manual effort significantly higher revenues in the Nobling eligible for prime locations. The grape variety is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic disadvantage is avoided, no return delivered to have male plants grow.
